The new hampshire Chicken breed was developed by the crossbreeding of Rhode Island breed and one more breed. The new hampshire Chicken breed is known for its early producing feathers, good quality meat, and also good eggs. The new hampshire Chicken breed is mostly used for meat production rather than egg production. The new hampshire Chicken breed has broad body, brown color eggs and it has a single comb which has medium to large size. The new hampshire Chicken breed has an average weight of about 2.9-3.9kg. The new hampshire Chicken breed gives around 120 eggs per year.
The Feeding of new hampshire Chicken breed
  1. Giving them Protein: Make sure the chicks that is of age of 0-10 weeks is getting a protein level of 10-20% in their diet. In the area of meat birds like pheasant, quail and turkey, their protein level should be 22-24%. The fact is that the higher level of protein really helps to increase the growth of the chicks. In the area of the growers, their protein level must be around 15-16% in their diet and also for the layers, their protein level should be 16% in their diet.
  2. Giving them water: Make sure the first water of the chick should include 1/4th cup of sugar and also one teaspoon of Terramycin/gallon and the second water should include one teaspoon of Terramycin and then normal water can be given. Make sure you provide one quart of water to every four chickens. Make sure the water is fresh and clean.
  3. Giving them Carbohydrates: This particular nutrient is very necessary to maintain the temperature and to mix the body fat. The chicken need energy which will actually come from the carbohydrates. Make sure you don’t exceed the amount of carbohydrate more than 10% in their feed, because this can be very difficult for them to digest.
  4. Some of the mineral material: This particular mineral material is used to make bones and eggs and it is also used for other body works. Some of the mineral material are like Selenium, Cobalt, Sodium, Potassium, Phosphorus, Chlorine, Sulphur, Manganese, Iron, Copper, Iodine, Zinc, Magnesium and Calcium. Although some of all these materials are obtained from their feed.
How to care for the breed
The shelter and care of the breed: If you want to start chicken farming, you need a suitable land for them. Make sure the shelter is at some height from the road so that rain water can easily flow out and also they will be protected from flood. Make sure there is supply of fresh water. The shelter must have 24 hours electricity supply. Also make sure the location of the shelter is away from industrial and urban area because the fertilizer of chicken can pollute the environment and cause flies’ problem. Make sure you choose a shelter that is free from noise, because the noise problem can affect the production of the birds.
The Caring for the newborn chicks: In chicken farming the raising of the baby chicks requires proper attention and also an incubator. The chicken eggs are placed in the incubator for about 21 days. Immediately after hatching, the chicks are removed form the incubator after 48 hours. Make sure the handling of the chicks is done carefully when taking them out from the incubator. Immediately after taking them out from the incubator, you can placed them in the brooder. Make sure for the first week the temperature of the brooder is 95oF and it must be dropped by 5oF for every following week. Make a proper feed at the proper time is given to chicks and also clean water must be available every time in the brooder.
Some of the recommended vaccines: The following are some of the major vaccines or medicines which are required for maintaining the chicken’s good health:
  1. If the chick is 1 day old you can give them HVT vaccination to protect them from Marek’s disease.
  2. If the chick is about 4-7days old you can give them RD vaccination (F1 strain) to protect them from Ranikhet disease.
  3. If the chick is about 18-21days old you can give them IBD vaccination to protect them from Gumboro disease.
  4. If the chick is about 4-5 weeks old you can give them RD (F1 strain) vaccination to protect them from Ranikhet disease.
  5. If the chick is about 6-8 weeks old you can give them RD (F2B strain) vaccination to protect them from Ranikhet disease.
  6. If the chick is about 8-10 weeks old you can give them chicken pox vaccination to protect them from chicken pox disease.
Some chicken disease and treatment
  1. The Bird flu (Avian influenza) disease: This disease is caused by influenza and it increases the death rate. In this disease the infection comes out through the respiratory pipe, tears and waste. This particular disease spreads very early from one chicken to another. This particular disease can also be spread through unhealthy food and water utensils, cages and clothes. What you will observe as the symptoms are comb color turning yellow, less hunger, less egg production, lazy chickens,  and early death. 
How to Prevent it: Make sure you stop taking anything inside or outside from chicken farm. Make sure you use separate shoes inside the chicken farm. You can also spray germ destroyer like Qualitol around the chicken farm.
2. The Chicken pox disease: The Chicken pox disease is a contagious disease and also it can be spread to any age of the bird. What you will observe as the symptoms are sores on the comb, around the eyes and ears.
The Treatment of the disease: You can use homeopathic medicine of antimonium torterix @5ml/100 birds, this can cure the chicken pox.The Coccidiosis disease:
3. The Coccidiosis disease is a parasitic disease which is caused by coccidian protozoan. This disease normally affect chicks that is between 3-10 weeks old. Although it also affects the adult ones.
The treatment of the disease: Try and carryout a proper cleaning. You can put coccidiostat in the feed, for eg befran or amprol @50g/qtl feed, clopidol @125g/qtl, stanorol @50g/ton of feed. Make sure you change the medicine after every 1-2 years. Make sure you mix the medicine properly in the feed.
4. The Ranikhet disease: This particular disease is known as New castle disease. This disease is a very contagious disease and it can spread to every age chicken. Some of the symptoms are increased death rate, difficulty in breathing, fainted legs and feathers.
The treatment of the disease: Once they are about 1-6 days old you can vaccinate them with Ranikhet medicine of F strain and also the broilers should be vaccinate after 4 weeks interval with F-1 vaccination.
