Pig has a lot of breeds. The following are some of the major types of pig breed:
1.   The Berkshire breeds: This particular pig breed is the third-most recorded breed of pig in the United States. These particular breeds are really known for fast and efficient growth, reproductive efficiency, cleanness and meat flavor and value.
2.   The Chester White breeds: This particular pig breed originated from Chester County, Pa., this is where their name was formed. The Chester White breeds are really known for their mothering ability, durability and soundness.
3.   The Duroc breeds: The Duroc breeds are the second-most recorded breed of pig in the United States. These particular breeds are valued for their product quality, carcass yield, fast growth and lean-gain efficiency. The Duroc breeds really add value through their prolificacy and longevity in the female line.
4.   The Hampshire breeds: These particular breeds are the fourth-most recorded breed in the United States. This particular breeds are really known for producing lean muscle, high carcass quality, minimal back fat and large loin eyes. The female of this breeds are really known for their mothering ability, with longevity in the sow herd.
5.   The Landrace breeds: These particular breeds are the fifth-most recorded breed of pig in the United States. The Landrace breeds are Known as “America’s Sowherd. The female of this breeds are heavy milkers.
6.   The Poland China breeds: This particular breed originated from Ohio In the early 1800s.  The Poland China breeds are known for their large frame, length of body, leanness and muscle.
7.   The Spotted breeds: This particular breed is characterized by large, black-and-white spots. The Spotted breeds are really known for their feed efficiency, rate of gain and carcass quality.
8.   The Yorkshire breeds: The Yorkshire breeds is really the most-recorded breed of pig in North America, this breeds are white with erect ears. These particular breeds are really known for their muscle, with a high proportion of lean meat and low back fat.
