The Dracaena fragrans is one of several East African species that belong to monocotyledon family. Some of the common english name of this plant are Dragon tree Luganda, Mpaanyi, mulamula Runyoro, Mulamula Rutoro, Muramura, etc.
This particular succulent plant have been cultivated In Uganda over a long period and it is also use as a traditional boundary marker or hedge.
The Dracaena fragrans plant  is use as Ornamental, hedge, boundary marking.
The nature of the plant
The Dracaena fragrans is an evergreen shrub or tree, usually 3-5 m (15-18 m). The vertical leafy stems of this plant can grow from a tangled mass of horizontal woody stems at ground level.
The plant bark: The plant bark is smooth, pale, ringed by leaf scars, soft and also juicy if cut.
The plant leaves: The plant leaves is usually 30-50 cm long, 4-10 cm wide, the base is narrow.
The plant flowers: The plant flower stalk is erect, and is usually 18-25 cm(40-100 cm), mostly unbranched, the flowers is in dense clusters, the flowers are very fragrant, the petals are white or pink with a central darker pink stripe.
The plant fruit:  The plant fruits are rounded orange fleshy berries, which is about 2 cm, they are sometimes lobed, they are on thick stalks.
The propagation of Dracaena fragrans: This plant is propagated from cuttings.
The plant seed: The plant fruit can be collected then crushed to set free the seeds, after that the seed can be dried.
The treatment of the plant : Treatment of the plant is not necessary.
The storage : It can be store in a dry cool place.
The management of the plant: Dracaena fragrans can be managed from cuttings or wildings as a boundary marker or as a hedge. Is a fast growing plant.

Furthermore, this succulent plant has a good market, the cuttings are being exported to Germany where they are potted and sold as indoor plants. The roots of this plant really have medicinal use.
