If the Lavender plant has established, it actually require little care or maintenance. The Lavender plant should be watered regularly early on, the established plants need little water, as they are extremely drought tolerant. There should be regular pruning, this will not only keep the lavender plants neat and good appearance, it will also helps to encourage new growth. Any low-growing varieties can be cut back to the new growth while larger types can be pruned to about a third of their overall height. This particular plants take up to a year or more before they are ready for harvest. When they are ready for harvest it is best to harvest the Lavender plants early in the day, by picking flower spikes that haven’t fully opened yet. You can bundle the plants up and hang them upside down in a dry, dark area for about 1 to 2 weeks.
